Pacific Studies: Culture, Environment, History and Politics

On this program students will have 4 lectures of 1.5 hours each on topics including environmental issues, history and politics of the Pacific region in general and Fiji in particular. The program includes over 30 hours of field trips to locations related to the topics covered in class as well as to activities which will provide an insight into and appreciation of the life and culture of Fiji.

Lecture topics include: Pacific Prehistory and Settlement; Pacific Colonial History; Fiji Prehistory, History and Culture; Contemporary Political Issues in the Pacific; and Environment and Development.

Field trips include: Beachcomber Island, Hindu Temple, Walking Tour of Suva, Community involvement activities and Kula Bird Park
