Internships in Florence: Academics
This Richmond, The American International University in London – Florence Campus – draws on the rich resources of the city for its academic expertise. Many courses are taught by those working directly in the field, such as art historians, education experts and journalists.
Course load
In addition to the required Intensive Italian course (during the 2-week orientation) and the regular Italian course, students choose one semester-long, 3-credit course related to the chosen Internship, taught weekdays by Richmond faculty, many of whom are practicing experts in their fields. No AIFS participant is permitted to take a course without receiving a letter grade. Pass/Fail grade options are not available.
Student advising
In addition to the internship staff who support students on an individual basis throughout the program in the seminars, internship faculty advisors are assigned from Richmond, The American International University in London faculty to monitor the internship. They are in regular contact with the student and the workplace supervisor and contribute to the academic component of the internship program grade.
Transcripts
Transcripts are prepared by the Registrar’s Office, Richmond, The American International University in London, Queen’s Road, Richmond, Surrey TW10 6JP. One official copy of the transcript will be mailed to you free of charge.
Additional official transcript copies may be obtained from the Richmond Registrar’s Office by using the Transcript Request Form on the Richmond website: www.richmond.ac.uk/cms/pdfs/transcript-request.pdf. This form should be printed, signed and mailed or faxed to the Registrar’s Office. There is a fee of approximately $10 per transcript, plus an additional fee if courier service is requested.
