TThe aim of this intensive course is to develop both written and oral expression and comprehension by working on grammar and vocabulary while simultaneously learning about French life and culture. Professors provide a wide range of authentic and varied language activities based on newspapers, advertisements, texts from well-known authors, local and national media and films.

Students are in class 5 days a week for 4 hours a day (3 classroom hours and one hour of language laboratory). Classes are small (maximum 16) to encourage active student participation. Students are evaluated throughout the semester and the average of these grades, and attendance, are noted on the final transcript.

Outside class hours, students have access to a language laboratory, computer assisted learning center and a video library which are permanently staffed by specialized professors.

There is no language prerequisite. Students take a placement test on arrival to decide their appropriate language level.
