Study Abroad in Gaborone: Overview
Gaborone is the economic hub as well as headquarters of Government ministries, Parliament, the House of Chiefs and most international organizations and embassies. It is a modern city with interesting markets, good hotels, shopping malls, restaurants and clubs that offer live music by local artists.
Program at a glance
- Academic year, fall or spring semester
- Open to college sophomores, juniors and seniors
- 2.5 minimum GPA required
- Up to 18 credits per semester
- Program fee includes tuition, housing, meals, cultural activities, excursions and insurance. Round trip travel option available.
- Courses offered in African Studies, Business, Economics, History, International Relations, Literature, Political Science and other disciplines
- All courses offered in English
- Community volunteer opportunities available
- The local AIFS Resident Director and staff organize cultural activities and housing, act as a liaison between students and the university, and are available 24/7 in case of emergencies
- Study permit must be obtained once in Botswana
- Transcripts issued by the University of Botswana
Application and scholarship deadlines
- Application deadlines* Fall semester is closed; October 15 (spring)
- AIFS Study Abroad Scholarships available. The scholarship application deadline is September 15 (spring).
