James Cook University
Founded in 1970, James Cook University is a multi-campus university, named after the 18th century British navigator and explorer Captain James Cook. It is Australia’s leading tropical research university taking advantage of its location in tropical Queensland. The Cairns campus is close to both the Great Barrier Reef and the rainforests of the Wet Tropics, with the Atherton Tablelands, Cape York and historic Queensland outback also accessible from here.
